What Your Tattoo Location Says About You

What Your Tattoo Location Says About You
Selecting where you put a tattoo on your body says a lot about your character and personality. Would you like to know how some people are perceived due to the location of their tattoos? Read the following article to find out.

Many of you will agree with me when I say, "We are what we eat." However, does this ideology apply to tattoos as well? Are people judged or perceived solely on the tattoos they've proudly got inked on themselves? It's a possibility; and the truth remains, there are many in this world who clearly have wrong ideas about who an individual is based on his/her tattoos. In this ThoughtfulTattoos article, we will see how misunderstood some of us can be, when certain tattoos and their location are put in the mix.
Tattoo Placements and their Implications
Basically, you can get a tattoo anywhere you like. When it comes to tattoos, the human body is like a blank canvas, ready to be explored. In the following section, we will discuss some of the most common places that people get their tattoos inked.
Skull -- Face -- Neck
I'll admit, looking at a person with tattoos on his/her skull, face, and/or neck can be a bit scary. The first thing that comes to mind is to search an escape route. But here's an opportunity to understand what that individual may be really thinking when he/she made the decision to flaunt the tattoos so publicly, and in our faces. Such tattoos can indicate that the person doesn't abide by society's rules and is perfectly comfortable making the decision of getting life-altering tattoos. It's risky, as these tattoos can't be hidden, and finding work where such tattoos are considered acceptable can be slim.

Back -- Shoulders
Back and shoulder tattoos can make a person look crabby, but all that depends on the designs. More often than not, back tattoo designs consist of angels, wings, cross, koi fish, or even dragons. As far as shoulder tattoos are concerned, there are chances of them being original. These days, many women opt for shoulder tattoos as they are socially accepted. The tattoos can be perceived as a sign of toughness, strength, and a bit of softness.

Arms -- Wrists -- Fingers
There's room for error with these tattoos. If designs are chosen misguidedly, the tattoos may present a not-so-appealing vibe by the onlookers. The tattoos can go either way, for both men and women. Choosing between designs that either look hardcore or show a gentle side of you will make a whole lot of difference.

Spine -- Lower Back
Tattoos inked on the spine can hurt, real bad. This says a lot about an individual's character and dedication to withstand a great deal of pain. The designs, if chosen wisely, can make the person look appealing (to some). It definitely has a "tough guy" and "aggressive chick" written all over it. As for the lower back tattoos, preferred mostly by women, the opinion all around isn't pretty. With derogative tags that belittle women, it can be difficult to pull this one off.

Chest -- Ribs -- Stomach
If required, these tattoos can be easily hidden from the world's prying eyes. Tattoos on the chest and ribs are quite common these days, with designs and ideas ranging from various animals to quirky phrases to thought-provoking design mishmash. Stomach tattoos, however, are quite young and can go either way. It's common knowledge that the skin in this area is likely to expand at some point. So, to choose this  area for an elaborate tattoo may come along as foolish by some.

Thighs -- Legs
Now, these locations are becoming popular each day among women. Sexy legs, covered (perhaps not completely) with sultry tattoo designs can make many heads turn, although there's no saying if these heads turn because of approval or dislike. Of course, the choice of designs can sway the votes either way.

Calves -- Feet
Tattoos on the calves and feet always seek attention. It's one of the latest trends for getting a tattoo, and perhaps that is the reason for its acceptability. With a chance to be as elaborate and over-the-top as a person can with such tattoos, it's not uncommon for people to follow the trend. The placements are kind of rebellious, but are easily consented as they can be hidden as and when necessary.

In the end, all I'd like to say is that there are two types of people in this world. There are people who like and have tattoos, and then there are those who wish they had tattoos but are scared of how they will be perceived by society. A tattoo is a tattoo; it's as simple as that. And no matter what or where the tattoo is located, it has nothing to do with "who" a person is from the inside. For all we know, a heavily tattooed, gangster-looking guy sitting next to you on the bus may be into gardening or is a loving father. So, it's always better to think twice before judging another human being.
